THANK YOU FOR VISITING THE CHALLENGE! We need your help as we work towards 1 million Americans achieving the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA). You can participate, serve as a Group Administrator leading others through the Challenge, or do both! However you get involved with the initiative your efforts not only benefit your own health, but the Nation's as well.

PALA is for everyone! Americans of all ages, abilities, and interests can achieve PALA through daily walks, sports, gardening, play, and any other physical activity indoors or outside. Just be active 60 minutes a day for youth (30 minutes for adults), 5 days a week, for 6 weeks.

Tracking your progress is easy:

Online - Create an account to log your progress online. In addition to tracking your achievement, you can also join a group to receive encouragement and interact with other Million PALA Challenge Participants!

Confuse your body! Whether you are changing up your exercise routine or eating habits, the key is to trick your body. Change the stimulus you're giving it to maximize the benefit.

Keep your abs pulled in tight while walking. This will help support your lower back and help maintain good posture.

A little is better than nothing! If you only have 10 minutes, then walk, do push ups, or stretch. The important thing is to do something everyday!

Calories Count! To lose 1 pound, you must expend about 3500 calories. To lose 1 pound a week, eliminate 500 calories a day through diet and exercise.

The President's Challenge is for everyone: fitness beginners, weekend warriors, athletes, physical education teachers, and kids. We take staying active beyond the school gym, and into everyday life.

Our Challenges are designed to help improve anyone's activity level. Young or old. It's about choosing to live healthier-and finding things you really like to do.

Online. The easiest way to participate and administer the Million PALA Challenge. Whether you want to join as a participant or serve as a Group Administrator, just register for an account to get started. Participants can easily log their activities, track their progress, join a group, and get recognized all by logging into their accounts. Group Administrators have access to a variety of tools to monitor their group's performance, invite new participants, and communicate with their members.

Paper Activity Log. For occasions when paper-based tracking is a better choice, every participant information sheet has a hard-copy activity log on the reverse side. Participants can track their progress on the activity log and submit it to their Group Administrator. Group Administrators still lead their group through the challenge, collect completed worksheets, and report completions by going to our online form. Not part of a group? You can also report your completion by visiting our online form.

Celebrate Your Achievement. If you achieve the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) online you will automatically be given access to a commemorative electronic certificate signed by Council co-chairs Drew Brees and Dominique Dawes. Participants and Group Administrators who report completions using paper-based tracking will also be able to download the identical certificate for their use.
